The Lykins Family

I have to admit that I pretty excited about this session.  When the initial call came with the inquiry for this session, I knew they were worried about having 3 dogs and 3 month old baby in the photos; however, I wasn’t really worried at all and said “sure, let’s do it”.  {hee, hee}   I was thrilled to have the opportunity!!   I have done several sessions with families wanting their dogs to be in the photo, so I am comfortable with it {plus, I have an awesome assistant who is wonderful with dogs and kids at sessions}. We decided on Forest Park and although it was a bit cool….it was a beautiful day for November.   I just love these images!!  Cecilia was the most content 3 month old ever and Delilah, Chief and Llini were the most amazing dogs and so loveable!!!  Thank you Lykins!!  It was such a pleasure!!

"Canine Love" Photo Contest Winner: Ruby

I never really understood the whole "love for dogs" idea until I purchased my own almost 5 years ago.  My Sydney changed my world…and outlook on Canine love all together!  I've become a dog lover and very passionate about them.  {if you only knew!}  So, when I have the opportunity to capture dogs….I'm thrilled!  Giving this session away last month to a canine was effortless.  I only wish I could've given one to every dog that entered the Canine Love Contest!  …and I mean that.  BUT…precious Ruby won and was such a joy to work with!   I still can't get over how tiny she is.. a mere 2.5 pounds to be exact when I captured her.  A breeder didn't want her because she didn't meet AKC Yorkie standards so gave her to a rescue here in STL.  Rescue dogs are special and I love hearing how a dog lands in a FANTASTIC home to not only give love, but be loved!   Ruby has so much energy and personality….it puts me to shame.  {hee, hee}  I didn't want to leave out Ruby's owners, so  I included a "family" picture as well!  So, without further ado….meet Ruby Yoder!

Hrin's: Families

I was really excited about this session because the Hrin's wanted to include their dog, Molly in the session. …and anyone who knows me knows that I love dogs! So, I am always so excited to meet, greet and capture the family Fido! Seriously. {huge grin} Stephen and Kim were WONDERFUL to work with. When you meet people where conversation doesn’t lack and your at ease….we'll, it basically feels like you've known them for years. It was a GREAT day for photos and the temperatures weren't bad at all. Here are some of my favorites. Thank you Hrin's!! What a privilege.

Bella | Pet Love

Bella was nothing short of a pleasure to capture on camera. She responded so well...with treats of course. I'm a BIG fan of dogs these days and if I had the means to have more then one myself, I would. They add so much to life and I am reminded often of how they love unconditionally. Bella was recently purchased here in Missouri by my parents who live in New Jersey. I wanted to capture her before she left for her new home. She's a 1 year old Havanese who has a TON of love give!! Bella will love her new home....I'm confident of that.

Sydney's 4th Birthday | Pet Love

In the New Year, I decided I was going to make an effort to share more with you on a personal level. Often times, people in business make everything about business and I want you to know more about me and the person I am. There’s a lot to know. {GRIN} So, I couldn’t think of a better way to do that, then by sharing Sydney, my miniature schnauzers 4th birthday with you. Yesterday, January 22nd I celebrated along with my sister, brother n law and Sydney’s three canine cousins: Parker, Buster and as of this week, Bella. It was too fun! Canine vegetable and beef stew made by my sister (thanks to Rachel Ray), some treats, a new toy and some yummy canine birthday cake made for a memorable evening! These are just a couple of pictures from the day. My dog brings so much to my world and although some may find it silly…I take the responsibility of having her seriously. She is my baby and I am truly blessed to have her in my life.

Me + Sydney = Smiles

I wanted to share with you one of my favorite pictures I had professionally taken with my sweet miniature schnauzer, Sydney recently. Thanks Angie for taking them! It will be 4 years January 22nd that I was blessed with this precious bundle of anxiety….I mean joy! {you have to really know Sydney to appreciate that - but I am laughing even while typing this}. Seriously, she brings me so much joy and is my baby through and through. I never realized how self centered I was before having her. I was carefree…with no 'real' responsibilities. Now, I worry about leaving her for long hours and when I am shopping, I always look down the dog aisles to see if there is something she might enjoy. She is more then a pet to me….she is a companion and has shared in some of the ups and downs the past few years. It wouldn't have been the same without her. Anyways…here we are as of November 2010. Let me encourage you to capture moments like these with your pets. You'll be happy you did.

Toby | Pet Love

I recently had an inquiry to capture Toby, the cat. Now, anyone who knows me knows that I am not a cat kinda girl. {smile} However, this request didn't seem unusual to me because I have taken several pictures of dogs and mine always has a camera in her face {not by choice}. Anyways, Toby has renal failure (kidney failure) so this was a bit of a happy-sad session. His owner, Sue wanted to have some professional pictures taken of him and we were thrilled that Toby was having a good week. This was a great experience and I think that Toby will be around for awhile. Here's to you Toby!

Toby | Pet Love

It's not everyday that I get inquiries for portrait pictures of a cat...but I was thrilled to capture Toby. I'll tell you more about him in a later post, but for now let me say that although I'm not a big cat person…Toby's a beautiful cat and has quite the personality. I learned quite a bit about him in the hour I spent with him. Animals amaze me! …more to come soon.

Snoopy | Pet Love

I love puppies so I couldn’t wait to take these pictures for Kim and Dillon! Snoopy is a mix of Cockapoo and Shitzu that was blessed with some beautiful blue eyes! This puppy had so much energy that I couldn’t help but wonder how a little 6 pound ball of fur is able to keep up with so much energy! I think Kim would agree with me on that. {grin} Dillon is the little guy who loves his new companion! The pictures of the two of them are too adorable. When Snoopy started licking and tickling Dillon’s face I kept the camera going and they were some of my favorite pictures! Pure candidness! This session made me miss the days when my miniature schnauzer, Sydney was a puppy. Those were memories I’ll cherish forever as I’m sure Kim and Dillon will as well!
