I have to admit that I think these colors are a GREAT mid winter choice for sessions! The neat thing about these colors/outfitsis that they all pair together perfectly, don’t you agree? ….and visually they compliment eachother. I’ve said it before and I’ll sayit again – layers and accessories add so much to outfits! {smile} Although these colors are cool in nature, the looks are sure to makeyou stand out and shine!!

I had full intentions of posting more then one blog withtop images from 2011, but unfortunately at this point, it's not going tohappen. {smile} So, I thought....whatcan I do to highlight some images, but keep it to ten images. Let me tell you - that was TOUGH!!! What I came up with is ten categories fromsessions last year and picked an image from each that I LOVED. How fun, right? I've labeled them {not that it was necessary,but hey....I wanted to shake it up a bit} In putting this together, I was reminded again of how BLESSED beyondwords I am!! Enjoy!

Shabby Chic Room : Saint Louis Photographer

It's alwaysnice to change things up a bit from portrait photography, so when Kelly from Live Laugh Rowe askedme to capture some images of her new FAB shabby chic room, I wasthrilled. I just thought I'd share a few images from the session. This makeover was truly remarkable and done a pretty tight budget - so thatshould give us all hope when we take on our next "makeover". I'm not a big fan of the lighter/pastel colors, but this blue is perfect andlooks remarkable against the white elements in the room. Enjoy!

Carly's 3 Month Session: Babies

Carly is simply adorable and did sowell being a start for her 3 month session. Truth betold....the three month session is the most challenging of any baby picturesbecause the babies still don't have the ability to sit up or holdthemselves up at all, so I have to get pretty creative. Well, Amber hadsome GREAT ideas, so we ran with them and Voila!! I thought the imagesturned so cute and will leave any viewer smiling from ear to ear. Thankyou Rogans! I grow more and more fond of you with every session!

New Year : New Opportunities : New Challenges

2011 was a great yearand I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for 2012. This year I'mapproaching things a little different as I'm attempting to scale back in someareas and pushing forward in others. I'm going to keep this post personal andreal as that is how I try to approach just about everything. In order forgrowth in any business, changes are necessary and often needed. Furthermore,change in ones personal like is necessary and often needed as well. Thereare areas of my life that are in need of some attention and although beingsingle and driven is a wonderful thing; physically and mentally, I need to finda better balance. So....what's changing you ask?

// I've adjusted the overall pricing for basic portrait photographysessions/products and tweaked others. Some areas are moresignificant then others, but this was needed after 3 years of BIG growth. I have found after some extensive research, that my prices are below averagecompared to many other local photographers and now that I am going into myfourth year, it's time to step outside "amateur mode" and put more ofa value on my time, talent and the work involved in all areas of thebusiness. I will continue to make digital files available as I believethat is necessary; however, the value on them will be higher as Ifirmly believe that obtaining the digital files from a session isinvaluable...and I unlike many other photographers, don't require a minimumprint order. I've tried very hard to stay within reach of theaverage household means and am comfortable with my 2012 pricingstructure.

\\ My PRIMARY focus this year will be portrait photography and 'the shop' (mystill photography). I'm giving weddings a rest with the exception of oneor two and will re-evaluate next year. I'm wanting to find"passion" areas and grow them rather then taking on everything andjuggling too much, which is tough for mebecause I am a "yes" kind of gal - smile! I've taken a step back in my marketing sothat things can move at a slower pace,yet another area that is difficult for me. I'm a 'fast forward'personality and like being "too busy", so this will be change on mypart and not an easy one....but I've always said I enjoy a challenge! {silly me}

// I've been pretty lenient with going over on time with the 1 hour sessionsand 30 minute sessions (when offered) as well as extending or re-postinggalleries after they've expired and not charging, etc. As difficult as itis for me to not want to accommodate those situations, this year I will beenforcing the session times and gallery expirations. As with anybusiness, time is money. Jonah Turns One!!

It’s hard to believe that Jonah’s first birthday has alreadyarrived!! What a special milestone!! It seems like only yesterday, I was posing a tinyfragile newborn. Before I knew it, hewas sitting up, crawling, and now he is starting to walk! WOW! Where does time go! It’s beensuch a pleasure! Jonah has such personality and is too handsomefor words! He truly looks like a littleman….so can you image the heartbreaker he’ll be??? This was by far my favorite session with him. Everyone one of these pictures makes me smile from ear to ear!! I Heart NYC!

While I was home visiting my family in New Jersey for the Holiday, I was able to get into NYC to see a show, walk Timesquare and go to the Rockefeller Center to see the Tree. My parents live close to the city (a mere 20 miles) so I try to go every time I'm home to get a "fix". This trip was no exception. It was wonderful and I took in every minute....seriously. {smile} I wasn't there long enough to focus on getting pictures, but I did capture the one below while walking through Timesquare. As you can see, it's bright and busy....and I wouldn't want it any other way!

The Rebura Family

I absolutely {heart} these images of the Rebura family! The location was fantastic and although it was very chilly that morning, I couldn't have been more pleased. This barn is AMAZING and the hay bales were and high weeds were perfect! You know I'm right! {smiles} The kiddos (Jaydyn and Josiah) were simply ADORABLE and their red hair was gorgeous! Lifestyle photos are usually my favorite from the sessions I capture and this one was no exception. There is nothing like watching a family interact and just "be". Thank you Rebura's! I look forward to capturing the Hatfield family every year! We always have a good time and they really let their personalities shine! Tis the Season! Of course I wouldn’t let the month of December slip by without giving you some holiday/winter inspiration for a portrait session. This time around has a bit more formal feel, but this time of year coupled with the “brrr” weather tends to put people in a dress up kind of mood. These colors would be great for an Urban session, but if you want to keep it indoor….a theatre would be perfect {example would be the “fox” theatre here in STL. Enjoy!

Meet the Jansen’s. Ihad met Briana a few years ago and we see each other from time to time inpassing. So, as you can imagine, I wasthrilled to schedule a session with her. I was in shock when I pulled upand saw Cameren. The last time I saw him, he was still in astroller!! He’s now 5 years old and in school. …and they have a new addition tothe family - Cole, who will be a year old in February. Thesession was fun and full of laughs! Cameren kept us all laughing!! I have to admit that I pretty excited about thissession. When the initial call came withthe inquiry for this session, I knew they were worried about having 3 dogs and 3month old baby in the photos; however, I wasn’t really worried at all and said “sure,let’s do it”. {hee,hee} I was thrilled to have the opportunity!! I have done several sessions with familieswanting their dogs to be in the photo, so I am comfortable with it {plus, Ihave an awesome assistant who is wonderful with dogs and kids at sessions}. Wedecided on Forest Park and although it was a bit cool….it was a beautiful dayfor November. I just love theseimages!! Cecilia was the most content 3month old ever and Delilah, Chief and Llini were the most amazing dogs and soloveable!!! Thank you Lykins!! It was such a pleasure!!

Chelsea & Derek: Tying the Knot

When I first met Derek & Chelsea, I knew that capturingtheir BIG day would be GREAT! They wantedto keep the day less traditional…and more fun. I’ll just state upfront, that they accomplished that quite well. {grin} Their simple, yet quaint ceremony was at the north pond at the Arch. It was a gorgeous day and everything radiatedwith life and color!! Following the ceremony,Chelsea and Derek left on Segways. Yes, youread that right….Segways! Theirreception was at the City Museum and it was so fitting for this young, fun andplayful couple! It’s always hard tonarrow down images to post following weddings, because there are so many tochoose from. My goal is to have you, thereader, get a good feel for the day….almost as if you’d been there. I had a FABULOUS time capturing this weddingday! ...and a BIG thanks to Steve, my second shooter!! Meet the Oler's! When Ayla initially contacted me about scheduling a session, she stated they hadn't had a GREAT photography session. Well, you know me...I love a challenge so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to turn that around for them! {grin} When I met them in St. Charles the day of the session....I was immediately taken by this adorable family {side note...I loved their colors!} and their little guy, "Austin" - well, he is was just A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! The Duello Family

The Duellos! We met up in Faust Park, one of my favoriteplaces to capture pictures. This session was primarily scheduled tocapture the little guy, Jackson. He was such a cutie-patootie! Mom cluedus in on the 'magic' word to get him to look at the camera and smile --SCRUMPTIOUS. That's right, scrumptious! Isn't thatabsolutely darling? I can't tell you how many times Kelly (my assistant) said,"1-2-3, SCRUMPTIOUS!" We all just laughed and laughed. What a great session! I'm pretty sure you can see Jackson's personality in allof the pics, and he made some of the stinkin' cutest faces. Of course,capturing the father/son pics in their cardinals apparel was a treat too! Sweet Madelyn turns "1" year old!

How is that possible? It seems like a just a few days ago I started capturing her on camera. Madelyn showed up with more personality than ever and the intense curiosity and determination of most children. She wanted to walk everywhere, touch everything and would not allow one thing to stay in her hair or on her head {smile}. Getting her to sit or stand still was a little more of a challenge now that she's officially walking, but what fun we had making silly faces, singing, and laughing. Mom (Meghan) never disappoints with wardrobe, she always shows up with the cutest outfits, tutus, and props. There is no question that the camera loves Madelyn. The colors were intoxicating! I was delighted to see Madelyn grow so much in her first year, but I'm saddened that my work is officially done. It's with overwhelming gratitude that I say goodbye to the Swanns knowing they will be starting a new chapter of their lives as they move back to Georgia. Thank you! I wish you innumerable blessings!

One of my favorite locations in the St. Louis area for Senior Sessions is the Historic Downtown St. Charles area. There is such a good variety for the Urban look …I love it!!! ….and when I refer to Urban, I'm referring more to the textures and colors. So, let me get right to it. Meet Vikki! She's a senior at St. Dominic High school and has {BIG} passion for fashion! Beautiful girl, right? I'm such a lucky gal to capture fabulous seniors!! I understood the minute I met her why she loved fashion and in talking with her throughout the session - it's something she plans to embrace in her future as well.... specifically, fashion merchandising. Sisters Shoppe: Arcola, IL

A few weeks ago, I went on a minigetaway with my twin sister to Arcola, IL. We stayed at a quaint Bed& Breakfast and enjoyed exploring the area. Well, if any of you knowme or my sister….you know that we love shopping! We went walkingdown Main St. in Arcola and just did our thing - spend money! {BIGGRIN} We found this one shoppe and well, I loved it the minute I enteredthe door. SISTERS SHOPPE was the name and that already struck a cord asmy sister and I are extremely close. This lovely store was started back in 2007by sisters, Julie and Jenni and is full of treasures for all ages! It wasevident that much time and creativity were put into every element of the store. As aphotographer, a crafty gal and when I have time….a scrapbooker, I not onlyimpressed but captivated by the store. In fact was so taken by thestore that I asked if I could capture some images and feature them on myblog. Irene, the mother of the sisters {I just love how that sounds} was working that day {she's the gal in the photobelow} and was kind enough to agree. The textures, colors, and usage ofso many neat items within the store was FABULOUS! Below are some images giving a short virtual tour; however, please know that it's even more amazing inperson! The Gaither's: Joplin Smile Couple

I enjoyed EVERY Joplin Smilesession, but the Gaither's left a pretty big impression on me. Why? Well, first and foremost, I don't have any grandparents still living and thiscouple displayed that warm and fuzzy feeling and I just enjoyed the time spentwith them. As we were wrapping up the session, I told them that fortheir last picture, I wanted them to jump in the air on the count ofthree. {I am busting up typing this and replaying that moment overin my mind} Well….we all know that didn't happen, but we sure enjoyed thelaugh! As they shared their story with me, it was touching to hear howthey have been blessed by others….strangers who donated money, time, labor andthe list could go on to build their home again. They are hoping tobe in their new home by Christmas and I'm believing with them for that! Their faith is strong and it was evident that throughout this journey, they never lost hope in knowing that one day they would be back in a home theycould call their own again! Thank you Jan and Jim! It was such apleasure!

Brooke: Kiddos

When I met Brooke and her mom for this session, I knew IMMEDIATELY that it was going to be GREAT! She had the most adorable curly hair and her smile (….notice the dimples) shined! Brooke had such a pleasant and fun personality that I couldn't help but smile through the entire session. I quickly caught on by listening to mom that if I said, "you can't sit there, but I can"….or "I'm going to go over there and pose for the camera, but you can't" - Brooke was eager to do what she was told she couldn't. It was hilarious! It was hard to pick favorite images from this session because I loved all her outfits, hats, expressions….but below are few I wanted to highlight. Photographic 2012 Calendar

I thought I wouldspotlight/feature one of my favorite creations and product -- the twelve monthphoto calendar, which includes twelve individual loose leaf prints for eachmonth of the year. Isn't it fabulous? While I primarily capturepeople, events and furry friends, I do enjoy snapping the perfect still life orlandscape picture throughout the year. I started making these last year,so there are now two to choose from. As October approaches, I start tobrowse through some of my snapshots to find the perfect picture for each monthof the year. I found the perfect customizable template and then used my images topersonalize the calendars. Finding the perfect image can be more challenging thanyou think, plus the image needs to fit within a specific space. All in all, it'sa fun project that makes an exceptional piece of art on my desk and a fabulousgift to give. Emma: Joplin Smile Children

Emma's grandmother scheduled a session to have pictures of her grandaughter done since they lost any they had to the Joplin Tornado. I think children are wonderful to capture. They are so genuine and only know how to be themselves because they are too young to worry about how they look at the moment. It's quite extraordinary really.....and to some degree 'raw' which is what I think makes it more meaningful. I absolutely LOVE capturing children! Below are just a few iamges I thought you would enjoy. Emma loved the flowers and grass....she was drawn to nature and I have to say that I think nature favored her. Beautiful girl. Beautiful moments.

They were wanting to have their session downtown so we picked a park near the Joplin library to meet and then captured some more "downtown feel" pictures. It didn't take long to discover that the couple were naturally athletic as they were both tall and slender and had that "athletic" look next to me. {smile} Thank you Cropper's! Jonah's 9 Month Session: Babies

I am so fortunate to have the clients I have, they are all amazing! I met up with the Chisholm’s in St. Charles to capture Jonah’s nine month photos. At his 6 month session we went to an area that had a walking bridge and was surrounded by trees and grass….so we thought we would go a little more Urban for this one. Holly told me she found a fedora hat at an H&M store in Kansas City and it was a hit! Jonah rocked the hat!! He always looks like a gap kid model - seriously!! Jonah isn’t 'giving' with his smiles when it comes to me {what's up with that, right?}….but his personality shines and he’s so stinkin’ cute you just can’t help but stare anyways! Loved this session! I had the wonderful opportunity to be apart of Joplin Smile this past Friday, October 7th. I donated five sessions and all I can say is that it was nothing short of WONDERFUL!! The people I met were fabulous and their stories touching. Here I thought I was giving something to them, but really they were giving something to me. I left feeling extremely blessed...grateful...and will approach the difficult times with a different outlook. Despite the disaster that impacted these individuals, they were full of life and blessed to be where they are. {HUGE GRIN} Below is a sneak peek from each session...in the order captured. Trendy Tuesdays :: What to Wear

I absolutely love the color palette this month! I know it can be a bit of a challenge at times to see how everything will look together and photograph in pictures, so I'm hoping this might help create some inspiration! I'm an earthtone kind of gal...so the brown is fabulous and then adding some vibrant colors like you see below...WOW! It looks great! Don't be afraid to add color to your neautral browns and tans!

Adam: Class of 2012

Adam is one of those guys who is extremely personable, has a ton of personality and knows what he wants. I can't think of a senior session that I have laughed as much as I did with Adam. I even told him at one point that he needed to stop or all his pictures would be blurry from camera shake. {yes….I was laughing that hard} Guys don't have all the accessories/options that girls do, but this location and it's outdoor, earthy feel made it an ideal setting for his session. {smile} Adam, thanks for the laughs and being a trooper. I know that guys generally don't care to have their picture taken…but you did great! Congrats and best of luck in your future endeavors!

Cheetahs and Zebras and Penguins: OH MY!

I had been anxious to get to the STL Zoo all summer and finally had the opportunity to when my parents came into town for a visit over Labor Day weekend. We just went for a few hours, but I can assure you that I could spend the whole day there! I love the zoo!! There is something captivating about it. I mean of course the animals are amazing, but the scenery, the sounds and the atmosphere are captivating as well. It was VERY busy that day because of the holiday weekend, but I didn't let it bother me in the least. I put my 70-200 lens on my camera and enjoyed myself. I really had no expectations. I was there as any other guest….not as a photographer {at least that is what I kept telling myself}. I know, I know….why did I have a goal in mind at all? Trust me….there are days that I wish I could "turn off" the photographer thought process, but that is incredibly hard to do. I guess what I had hoped to do was capture portraits of the animals. I wanted them to feel more up close and personal. {smiles} Anywho - I thought I'd share a few of my favorite captures. Enjoy!

Rowan: Newborn

"Canine Love" Photo Contest Winner: Ruby

I never reallyunderstood the whole "love for dogs" idea until I purchased my ownalmost 5 years ago. My Sydney changed my world…and outlook on Caninelove all together! I've become a dog lover and very passionate about them. {ifyou only knew!} So, when I have the opportunity to capture dogs….I'mthrilled! Giving this session away last month to a canine waseffortless. I only wish I could've given one to every dog that entered theCanine Love Contest! …and I mean that. BUT…precious Ruby wonand was such a joy to work with! I still can't get overhow tiny she is.. a mere 2.5 pounds to be exact when I captured her. A breeder didn't want her because she didn't meet AKCYorkie standards so gave her to a rescue here in STL. Rescue dogs are special and I love hearinghow a dog lands in a FANTASTIC home to not only give love, but be loved! Ruby has so much energy and personality….it puts me to shame. {hee,hee} I didn't want to leave out Ruby's owners, so I included a "family" picture as well! So, without further ado….meet Ruby Yoder!

Organic Bloom Frames NOW Available!

Well, the wait is over! The orders placed for the Organic Bloom frames came in and all I can say is that they are even better to hold, touch and hang then I imagined! The Holliday Ladies

I love, love, love that I was able to capture these ladies! I met Joanna about a year ago and our common interest was our dogs. {too funny, huh?} We both have adorable dogs and honestly...conversation just came easy between us. I was thrilled to capture her with her daughters. BEAUTIFUL! Can you believe the last time they had pictures taken like this were when the girl were 9 and 7!!! Both girls are now attending college in Springfield, MO now (the youngest is a Freshman this year), so the timing couldn't have been better for this session!!! Now, I like to add some fun to sessions and although that doesn't always work out, in this case it did! We were all laughing and enjoying the moment! The Dudley's: Families

STL Photographers Shot Party: 2011

I know I mention from time to time how much I love what I do, but in saying that - I trust you know that I am also always wanting to learn more and grow as much as I can to make my client's experiences (yep…that's you!!!) with me the best that it can be!! I strive for "excellence" all the time. I mean….this journey would be pretty boring if I didn't challenge myself daily. So, when I heard about the STL Photographers Shot Party….I jumped on the band wagon and registered. I cannot even begin to describe what a FABULOUS experience it was! This was my first year to attend, so of course I was excited and a bit nervous too! A room full of talented photographers can be a little intimidating - right? {smile} It was GREAT! I saw some photographers I knew, met some new photographers and believe I made some friends along the way.

Becker started out the day by giving us 6 keys to a successful business: B.E.C.K.E.R. I love how he used his name to communicate them. {grin} I gained A LOT from his presentation. GOOD STUFF! Then I attended two breakout sessions. One was a panel of three wedding photographers who answered questions for those who were looking for insight. The other was for Lightroom which is something I haven't taken on yet. Soon though….very soon. Both break out sessions were good...I just think I was bias to the keynote speakers. The day ended with the AMAZING "Bobbi and Mike". Seriously…..I have followed this husband & wife team for years through their blog and facebook page and not only love their work…..but their passion and energy as well!! The information they shared was priceless!!! *wickedy wickedy WACK!!* as Bobbi would say!

It was a day full of valuable information and I felt blessed beyond words to be apart of it! A big shout out to Kelly Manno who makes the Shot Party possible every year! GOOD WORK KELLY! So, there you have it! Do you sense my excitement!?! {hee hee} …here is to loving what I do and sharing it with you!

Michael: Newborn

Meet handsome Michael. I captured him at a mere 7 days old. Every time I work with newborns, I get so excited….it's like I've never captured them before. They are so tiny and precious and simply AMAZING - you don't want to take your eyes of them. I think Michael set out to be different from every other newborn I've captured. You know, make a statement….and that he did! {BIG SMILE} Why you ask? Well, Michael decided to be wide awake for 90% of the session {I'm laughing just typing that} and really didn't want to be in any other position then on his back. HOWEVER, despite it all he did great and we got some wonderful images. Newborns are unpredictable, but I have to admit I kind of like that. I mean, what fun would it be if every newborn was the same, right? Holly and Mike….it was wonderful working with you and I'm already looking forward to Michael's 6 month session!

Madelyn's 9 Month Session: Babies

As I prepared for this session, I found it so difficult to believe that Madelyn is already 9 months old. It feels like yesterday that I met her at 3 months of age. She just gets cuter with each session….and those blue eyes are getting bigger too! Watch out boys! We knew it was going to be HOT, but wanted to capture this session outdoors since all the other had been primarily indoors. So, I found a quaint spot at Quail Ridge Park and that's where we made some magic. {smile} She did great as usual as you can see below. I'm still a HUGE fan of capturing kiddos in the 'off' moments - like when we're not all calling out their names over and over, jumping up and down, attempting to play peek a boo and well….you know how it goes. It's in the "off" moments that I capture the child's innocence and often times their mere curiosity. The Swann's have been wonderful to work with, so you can imagine the horror I felt when I heard they are looking to move back to Georgia! UGH! I dread to lose this family as clients. However, they're not leaving yet. So….we may go out with one BIG BANG for Madelyn's 1 year milestone. We'll have to wait and see. Thanks again Swann's!

Mertz: Families

When Angie asked me if I would take their family pictures, I was thrilled! You see, Angie is a fellow photographer and friend, so as you can imagine, I was a bit nervous. That's just my nature, really….so no surprises there. The session was effortless and they were such a delight to capture….relaxed and interactive which makes my job so easy! {GRIN} Their daughter Maggie is a doll and full of personality. The Anderson's: Families

This session was memorable not only because the Anderson's were wonderful to work with, but it was my first time to shoot in LaFayette Park in Saint Louis - which I am now in love with! The heat that morning was pretty intense so I knew that we had to keep things moving so everyone could get back in the comforts of cool air. The park was beautiful with scenery, so we tapped into that and captured some images in various spots to keep Henry engaged. He l was adorable and had such a BIG personality….what a trooper. Thank your Anderson Family!! Even in the extreme heat, it was fun and I hope we can do it again in the future!

Canine Love Photo Contest!

With the recent excitement having my mini schnauzer, Sydney on new packaging of Purina's Gentle Snackers, I've decided to give away a session to a canine! That's right! Ooooh, I am already sooooo excited! Below are the details and rules. So please read everything carefully and of course let me know if you have any questions.

THE WOOF (aka: the details)

1) Have a little photo session with your canine (or you can submit a recent picture, if you prefer)
2) Send 'ONE' favorite picture to me via e-mail (info@kristinelynn.com). Be sure to tell me the name of your dog and its breed. I will post it to a special contest album on my Facebook fan page.
3) Join my Face book fan page if you haven't.
4) Send people (your friends, family, co-workers, etc.) to join my Face book fan page and VOTE for their favorite canine (i.e. YOURS!)
5) The winner will be announced on August 9th based on the total number of comments for each entered image. Please note: A person must be a fan of my Face book fan page to like a photo.

THE BARK (aka: the rules)
1) Entries must be submitted by July 31st. I will post all entries on August 1st, and the voting will begin immediately!!
2) ONE entry per person.
3) ONE vote per person.

Hunter: Senior Session

What I love about Senior sessions is that it's capturing them as their arriving upon a new chapter in their lives. They are leaving the years of teenage bliss and rounding the corner of becoming a young adult. They have ambitions, dreams, and a drive that is quite captivating. Hunter was no exception. After spending the morning with her, it was evident that she is driven and will go far! She has style, personality and a desire to succeed and was fantabulous to work with! We had a lot of fun with the outfits and locations as each were unique to themselves and well, quite frankly - I just loved capturing Hunter. She's beautiful and that shines in these photos. Flower Power

Lately, I've made an effort to pay more attention to flowers…whether they are planted or wild. I'm again reminded of God's BEAUTIFUL creation. The colors, sizes, textures and detail in every bloom is amazing! These are just a few of the flowers I've noticed lately. I love having the ability to capture nature at it's best and then put it in the spotlight from time to time. It's a pleasant change of scenery. Daniel: Newborn

There is nothing….and I mean nothing like capturing a newborn. The Stricker's were so welcoming when I arrived at their home, and then meeting 11 day old, Daniel with his full head of hair - I smiled and was anxious to get started! Well, Daniel had something else in mind….and I was a little worried because he wasn't about being happy at all. The only time he didn't cry is when he had a bottle or mommy was holding him. So, we decided to go outside to capture the family picture and maybe that would calm him a bit. BOOM! He fell into a deep sleep and we did the rest of the session outside as it was evident that the heat and humidity were keeping him happy. As you'll see below - it was a wonderful session and the images captured were nothing short of precious. I couldn't help, but include a few other images from the session as well. Congratulations again Stricker's!! I enjoy spending the morning with all of you!

The Trimble's: Families

Meet the Trimble Family. I had gone back and forth with Angela trying to schedule a family session and was pretty excited to get in on the calendar. I was anxious to meet the mother of 5 children all under the age of 12 and one was under a year old. When we met at Forest Park, I was greeted by a friendly and warm family. The kids were so polite and friendly and it was evident - they all aimed to please. I had a great time!! Thank you Trimble family! It was wonderful meeting all of you!! Let's do it again next year!

A Star is Born!

I just wanted to take a minute and share something pretty exciting with you, so bear with me as this post is going to RADIATE with smiles!!! Last year, my mini schnauzer, Sydney was chosen to be in a photo shoot for Purina. That in itself was so exciting and such a neat experience for both of us!!! They said she would be "thee" dog on the new packaging for Gentle Snackers and even showed me what it would look like at the photo shoot. {I was glowing….as I am now}. They mentioned the turnaround would be about 6 months and as of this month, it's been well over a year. So, I figured Purina changed directions and decided to put the idea aside and appreciate the experience for what it was. Well, yesterday I had a random thought about it and decided to Google "purina gentle snackers" and OH - MY - WORD!!! When the image came up and I saw MY SYDNEY on it, I almost started screaming!! I was sooooooo excited! Seriously, I don't think I've felt that kind of excitement in years!! It was fabulous and I couldn't be a prouder dog owner…hek, I couldn't be a prouder MOM!!! I'm blessed and pretty lucky to have such a wonderful dog to journey with…..and now, she's a star!! {hee-hee}

Mini Session: Ladenberger Family

As a lifetstyle photographer, I appreciate the "off" moments in sessions and have found that some of the best pictures are captured unintentional. Mom and dad were working so hard to get Henry to smile and look at the camera that I decided that was where the photos were. The family images captured the essence of the moment and - well, I fell in love with them. Henry lights up these photos and was such a joy to meet. {grin} Enjoy!

Mini Session: Roorda Family

A little "Lens Bling"

I stopped by my sister, Kelly’s house the other day and saw this cute elephant ‘lens bling’ sitting on the table. I smiled and asked her when she got it and she went on to tell me that she made it!!! I’ve had my eye on these for awhile now and although they were on my wish list, I just haven’t gotten around to making the purchase. Now I’m glad I didn’t! Isn’t it GREAT? My sister and I love being crafty and she really surprised me with this! …and it brings more meaning to me knowing that she made it. These are great for baby and kids sessions as they make great distractions. {smile} Thanks Kelly! I love it and will put it to good use.

Miss Baily: Children

This session had been postponed several times, so we were delighted that the weather cooled off a bit and we had a little sun to work with for Miss Baily's session. The last time I captured her was over a year and a half ago and she has really grown since then! She rocked the outfit changes, and although she asked numerous times "can I play now?", she cooperated wonderfully and as you can see…..is a doll! I even included a couple images with her mom as that I just thought were beautiful!

Jonah’s 6 Month Session: Babies

Jonah is ‘thee’ most adorable little guy….ever! He has so much personality and his smile is sure to light up any room. I’ve become very fond of him and look forward to every session and can’t believe he’s already six months old!! I was looking forward to capturing him outdoors for this session…and as you’ll see below, it was fabulous!! There are always so many things that happen in the course of a session that I want to share because it brings more meaning to the images, but time just doesn’t allow as these posts are not intended to be mini novels. {I’m laughing out loud at the moment} However, I have to share one thing that I was too cute for words. I loved watching Jonah light up when mommy sang “Itsy Bitsy Spider”. I was amazed at how that song affected him and his disposition. It was GREAT!!! Once we captured some images at a quaint spot in their community, we headed to the pool. It was Jonah’s first time to experience a pool like environment and I couldn’t have been happier to be there to capture it. He was sporting cuteness, coolness and wetness all at the same time and pulled it off well! {huge grin} Holly & Jared...it’s such a pleasure to capture not only Jonah, but you as a family as well!!

An afternoon with author, L.A. Kuehlke

When L.A. Kuehlke showed interest in having me capture headshots for her, I was super excited! I love getting to work with those who have a passion and gift as an artist. She has a fabulous personality and we had a little too much fun walking around areas of Hillsdale, NJ to get some fabulous shots. She lives less than two blocks from a Starbucks where she is well known and does much of her writing as a photographer, of course I wanted to capture her there in action. The Winter Family: New Jersey Session

A few days following the Co Family Session, Rebecca emailed me and asked if I could squeeze one of her friends in for a session before heading back to STL. I was certainly willing to try and was thrilled it worked out. The focus of the session was photos of Jenna (mom) with her boys…and images of the boys. {note: I was able to convince dad to get in a mere few. Hey, I'll take what I can get!} Below are just a few of the images for you to enjoy! Aidan was this little man that I couldn't get enough. Such a cutie and was dressed like a guy from Hawaii Five-O! The Co Family: New Jersey Session

I'm one lucky photographer! Why? Because I get the cutest families and adorable children to capture!! Here is another NJ family I had the opportunity to capture. The Co's were such a treat and true troopers considering the heat and humidity the afternoon of their session. It was sooooo hot, but we smiled through it and captured some great moments. …and trust me on really hot days, it's not always easy for little ones. This first picture is my favorite. Black and white images speak in their own way and I just love how it processed. It's BEAUTIFUL! Thank you Co's!

Two Love Birds: New Jersey Session

I captured Dan & Michelll's wedding last October in Vermont, so I enjoyed getting to capture a few moments for them on their own turf especially as it's getting close to their one year anniversary. Dan is my little brother. {smiles} They live in downtown Montclair where the streets are lined with quaint shops and great restaurants that are usually packed full! These were taken against the walls of the Montclair Fire Department and another was againts an old office building. I wanted brick and texture...it was the closest I could get for Urban. Here are just a couple images captured. It was GREAT seeing my brother and his wife again!!!! 43!

The Pierce Family: New Jersey Session

When the Pierce Family pulled up and began to climb out of the SVU, I just couldn't believe how beautiful they were. We greeted with a hug and officially introduced ourselves. The rest was history! The session was at Anderson Park in Montclair, NJ and simply fantastic. I knew after the first few captures that the family were naturals in front of the camera! {I'm not sure they would agree….but hey, it's my blog and I say they were naturals - grin}. As I've said before, some of my favorite captures are those that are more candid in nature…lifestyle in feel, which is why the first couple pictures below are two of my favorites ...and what some of you may not notice in the looking at the images is that Michelle is 4 months pregnant, so this is really a family of six. Thank you so much Pierce family for your inquiry and allowing me to capture you in all your beauty! It was nothing short of pure pleasure!

Kozma's: Families

The Kozma's are such a cute family! We knew going into the session that rain was a possibility, but we didn't know that the winds were going to get gusty and a bit challenging along with temperatures that dropped in minutes making it a little cooler then expected. {challenges = smiles} I heart mother nature. However, the Kozma's endured effortlessly and we captured some great moments along the way. I also have to mention how much I loved their colors against the brick and buildings. {smiles} Thank you Kozma's!! It was fun...let's do it again in the future!

I enjoy taking headshots, so when I had the opportunity to capture these two comedians...it was a pleasure. Normally I'm the one working to get everyone to smile at sessions; however, at this session....I was the one doing the laughing and even said at one point that I had to get a grip because of camera shake. {BIG LAUGH} These are a couple images that stood out to me. A Day for Celebrating...

It's hard to believe that 37 years ago today my twin sister and I were born. Although I'm not big on birthdays and aging; I celebrate because I have my twin to celebrate the crazy, wild and often unknown journey of life with and that in a nutshell makes it worth it all. I'm blessed...what can I say? I wanted to capture a photo that spoke to "twinage" {grin} and incorporate something represented from our childhood. We used to play with these fisher price little people when we were kids and when I saw them on Etsy, I jumped all over it. Kelly....thanks for making every year memorable. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to we "twinkies". SMILES!!!

Madelyn's 6 Month Session: Babies

This little girl just keeps getting cuter and cuter! She's absolutely precious. For her 6 month session, we wanted to bring some Easter/Spring into the session because the timing was perfect. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy them as much as those that aren't specific to the season. Madelyn LOVED the fur blanket I brought. It was adorable to watch her keep touching it! She started teething so she was happiest when she had something in her hand or in her mouth….as you'll see a little of below. Bless her heart! She's a doll to work with and I always leave anxious for the next session. Children never cease to amaze me! They truly are a treasure!! ...and we even captured a fun family photo too!! Hrin's: Families

I was really excited about this session because the Hrin's wanted to include their dog, Molly in the session. …and anyone who knows me knows that I love dogs! So, I am always so excited to meet, greet and capture the family Fido! Seriously. {huge grin} Stephen and Kim were WONDERFUL to work with. When you meet people where conversation doesn’t lack and your at ease….we'll, it basically feels like you've known them for years. My childhood Easter memories are filled with wonderful reflections of easter bunnies, egg hunts, a basket full of edible and non edible goodies, a pastel colored dress with hat and purse to match and a wonderful dinner with family and often friends. Just typing that makes me smile. Why is it when we grow up, we leave those traditions to mere memories? I’m determined to find traditions of my own now; how about you? In thinking about what I would do for an easter picture, I found this adorable place setting mini basket at Pottery Barn and knew that it would be my easter photo this year. I love it! Have you ever envisioned a picture or pictures that you wanted to capture, but were waiting for all the elements to fall into place? I mean often times….timing is everything, right? Well, I recently found this perfect looking white vase and some lovely flowers and I all needed was a day with good lighting for me to work with in my home. Well, the opportunity finally presented itself last weekend! I’ve titled this collection “Spring Awakenings. In deciding on a name for the collection, I stumbled across a quotation that sealed the deal. {GRIN} “Inspiration is an awakening, a quickening of all man’s faculties, and it is manifested in all high artistic achievements.” ~ Giacomo Puccini. I’ll be making some of these available of my website under the Flowering Moments Portfolio and will add some fine art prints under the Fine Art Portfolio as well. Meet The Giving Back Winner: Brad Lawson

Back in February I took nominations for a free Giving Back Session and it is with PURE PLEASURE, that I'm able to share some images from the session and the nomination story with you! Meet Brad Lawson: a kind, gentle spirited man who is devoted to his family. In meeting him, I felt an immediate warmth and I was just so honored to meet him and congratulate him on winning the nomination! Are you wondering who nominated him? His wife, Brandi. It takes a strong woman to encourage, support, and keep things going in the midst of challenging times. For the session, I wanted to capture Brad and Brandi as she nominated him, but I also wanted to include their adorable daughter, Kaylynn in the session and we certainly didn't want to leave out Bruno, their dog (who I thought was fantastic). Brad is a man who has truly overcome and as a family they have endured and survived! I know it's brought them closer and the past year will not soon be forgotten, but I trust that you are inspired as you read Brandi's nomination story below and that you will smile at the strength of this young man! I think you'll agree they are a beautiful family!

"Eight years ago, began a relationship between my husband and I. Six and a half years ago came a wonderful bundle of joy we named Kaylynn. We were young and happy, and very much in love. Years passed with many amazing memories and milestones of family life. First steps, teeth, school, graduating college (for me), new careers, new cars, a new home, and finally an engagement in Aug of 2008 (it only took six years!). We had planned a destination wedding for April 2011 in the Dominican Republic and were ecstatic about traveling for a vacation for the first time as a family, and everyone we loved was coming.

Then, April of 2010, after a couple of years of battling some excruciating pain and many doctors, we found out my soon to be husband, Bradley, had stage four non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Of course, everything happened so quickly after that... There were doctors, biopsies, port inductions, and within two weeks of finding out, an aggressive chemotherapy regimen. We did our best with our explanation to our daughter, and tried to move forward. We buried ourselves in the logical aspect, and started making arrangements for our future and Kaylynns. We discussed things no one would want to ordinarily discuss, but the conversations needed to take place. We did what we could to get by without breaking down everyday. Most importantly, Brad treated the situation with his usual obnoxious humor! He always seemed to have a good spirit about the situation and kept his head held high. There were five long months of treatment and many P.E.T scans. All showed amazing improvement! We had many people praying for Brad! He is one of the most loyal, good natured, caring, and compassionate people I've ever had the privilege of meeting and is loved by many.

Then, one Saturday, when he was on a break from chemo and we were talking in bed, I decided we shouldn't wait to get married! At this point in time, we really didn't know what the future was going to hold for us. And, I realized the cancer shouldn't decide what we could or couldn't do. Planning started that day, and after eight years together we were married in a wonderful ceremony with all the people we loved six weeks later on Oct. 2. It was beautiful!

Then came better news only seven weeks later... Brad was done with chemo and officially in remission!! All the cancer was gone and we were left in awe! We go back every three months for a while and P.E.T scans often, but without those visits, there is really nothing to remind us about his amazing journey (besides the wedding pictures, where he has no hair!). On Feb. 11th, he had his port removed and received closure from his long battle. Most importantly, we are still going to the Dominican in May to celebrate the end of a long trying year, and a horrendous battle most people think will never happen to them. I guess I was in that boat sailing along also.

I know how I felt and how difficult it was for me with the thought of losing the person I loved, but I wonder how he felt with the thought of losing everyone he loved... Ultimately, the most important thing I've learned in the last year is, regardless of the outcome, a positive attitude will determine how well someone deals with an unfortunate event. Brad exceeded all measures of optimism and made the situation so much more bearable for all of us. He is the most amazing person I have ever met... ~Brandi Lawson"

Leandro: Kiddos

I’ve been capturing this little guy since he just started walking and I have to admit I always look forward to it! Now 3 years old, he is FULL of life and energy and just a pleasure to interact with. He makes me work…but I think that’s why I enjoy it. It makes every “capture” memorable for me. {smile} For this session, we went with vibrant colors and more of the urban textures for the images. Jonah's 3 Month Session : Babies

What can I say other then this session was ADORABLE! I’m always amazed at what I'm able to learn from babies and children during the time spent with them. It’s the smiles, stares, and tears that allow me to capture unforgettable moments and I’m so incredibly grateful to be a part of that! Jonah was no exception! This little guy has such expression with his eyebrows alone! Seriously, you won’t necessarily see it reflected in these pictures, but I can assure you….it’s quite captivating and entertaining. It’s going to be too fun capturing his first year milestones! Already looking forward to the next time!

keeping a steady pace

As a photographer, I anticipate the slower months for rest, catch up, brainstorming ideas to grow the business, filing, advertising, etc. I won't deny that is what I had hoped for in January and February and although I wasn't able to accomplish all I had wanted, this winter proved to be much more profitable then the norm. So, no complaints there!! Actually, I'm tickled silly. But, as far as focusing on goals, well…. I fell a bit short. I mean, I finally got my filing system up to speed, laid out a new wedding album to show potential brides, spruced up the blog a little to hold me over on a total overhaul (potentially next year), ordered new DVD's for my awesome clients who purchase the images from their online galleries, booked several weddings, baby packages and a couple spring sessions and last but not least…took a little time (and that is not an exaggeration) for me. Not bad by any means….but not enough in my mind. I'm glad I was able to accomplish what I did in the midst of having sessions, events, etc. to capture and edit. What I do know is that 2011 is gearing up to be a FABULOUS year and I am thrilled to have all of you on board with me. {GRIN} I'm not a big fan of posting without pictures unless necessary, so I took bits of pictures that reflect just a few of the things that consume any business owners time….specifically this business owner. {I'm laughing too} What's crazy is that when I love what I do…it's not work at all! It's amazing how passion drives the soul.

An Event Highlight...

I had the privilege of capturing a corporate event for Health Care Systems, Inc. at Lodge of the Four Seasons this month. It was quite rewarding to watch and capture employees being recognized for good work…efforts in the workplace. Actually… it’s priceless! This group was truly grateful and honored to be there. Madelyn's 3 Month Session: Babies

Madelyn Grace was such a pleasant baby to capture! She was full of personality and very much taken by her daddy. I mean, seriously, she lit up for daddy! It was too cute. I have to note too that Madelyn was very intrigued with her feet at one point. We were challenged in getting her to look at the camera! {big smile} As you can see, her room was a GREAT spot for this session. It’s perfect for a little girl. NICE JOB Meghan! I loved the colors, the owls and the items from both her mom and dad’s childhood in there as well. I am super excited to capture the milestones of Madelyn’s 1st year. Most of the nation was hit by the recent winter storm and it has left its mark in some magnificent ways. Once I saw the icicles forming, I was quick to grab my camera and 50mm lens to capture a couple of pictures. The dictionary defines them as a pendent, a tapering mass of ice formed by the freezing of dripping water. Sounds almost too eloquent. {wink} Although I know that ice is more feared then loved, I can’t help but appreciate their rare beauty today. Join me.
